The Heirloom – Black Krim tomato variety is considered one of the best “black” tomatoes around. This plant produces fruit which is dark red, almost brown on top. The colour darkens as the summer temperatures rise, and the tomato has a very rich flavour and is very juicy inside. Fans of this tomato describe a sweet, almost smoky flavour. These tomato fruits are 3-4 inches in diameter and weigh about 10 – 16 oz. each.
Heirloom Tomato - Brandywine Red
Red Brandywine is an Old Amish heirloom tomato, dating back to 1885. This plant produces large, beefsteak type fruits that are approximately 8 – 12 ounces with a rich red colour with light pink undertones. It is a sweet and robust, old-fashioned tomato flavor.
Heirloom - Cherokee Purple
The Cherokee Purple tomato variety is more than 100 years old and originated with the Cherokee people. The plant produces a beefsteak type fruit with a unique dusty rose color and green shoulders across the top. Cherokee Purple Tomatoes are noted for their dense, juicy texture, and for the small seeds irregularly scattered throughout the flesh. The flavor of the tomato is extremely sweet with a rich earthy smoky flavor.
The “Great White” fruit is smoother than most other beefsteak type tomatoes and this plant produces what some would consider giant one pound, creamy white fruit. You’ll know when this tomato is ripe because it will typically have a yellowish hue on the bottom. The Great White’s flavour is mild and sweet. The tomato is very juicy and does not have many seeds.
Old German Tomato
This Heirloom – Old German variety of tomato dates back to the mid 1800’s and is a Mennonite heirloom from Virginia, USA. It is a beefsteak type tomato producing 2 pound bi-coloured golden-yellow tomatoes with red and pink stripes. It has more of an oblong shape and is one of the best slicing tomatoes on the market. This is a great tomato for preserving by canning or freezing.
The Valencia is a hard to find variety of tomato came to us from Maine, USA. The plant “Valencia” has been said to have been so named because it looks like a Valencia orange. Valencia grows well in northern and cooler climates – perfect for our climate here in the Milton, Oakville, and Mississauga areas. Valencia produces smooth round, 10 ounce, orange fruits. It has an full complex tomato flavour with great balance between acidic and sweet. The flesh is meaty and rich with few seeds.
All of the heirloom tomatos have great qualilties and sometimes it is difficult to choose. The solution is this Rainbow Blend – a great heirloom sampler. May contain black, pink, red or yellow Brandywine, Cherokee Purple, Green Zebra, White Wonder and orange Nebraska Wedding. Large, meaty tomatoes have that rich heirloom flavor. These varieties are early to mid season in maturity.
Heirloom - Jubilee Tomato
The Heirloom Jubilee tomato variety was the 1943 All-America Selections Winner. This plant produces high yields of large golden-yellow beefsteak type tomatoes weighing 6 to 7 ounces. They have a mild non-acidic flavour. The tomato has thick walls and few seeds which we feel makes it a great variety for making tomato juice and canning. It is also a great choice in salads and cooking.
Heirloom - Pineapple Tomato
This Heirloom – Pineapple variety produces very large, up to 2 pound beefsteak type fruit which is yellow with red marbling through the flesh. So unique variety that can be difficult to source. The flavor is very sweet, mild and fruity with relatively few seeds.
Rambling Gold Stripe
The Unique – Rambling Goldstripe variety has a trailing habit and which makes it a great choice for hanging baskets and large containers. You can also grow it as a bush type plant. It is one of the easiest tomatoes to grow and has an interesting striped yellow fruit with dark stripes. The fruit has an old fashioned flavour. It bears cherry-sized tomatoes and is incredibly productive and disease resistant.

Lycopene is an antioxidant that helps prevent certain cancers and other diseases. This Unique – Healthkick Tomato plant produces high yielding plum shaped fruit.
