Organic alternatives to pesticides/herbicides will protect, enhance or restore the environment. Jade Gardens encourages the use of organic alternatives to control pests and weeds.

Municipalities are beginning to regulate the use of pesticides and herbicides. For example, as of January 1, 2008, the use of pesticides within Oakville Town limits will be regulated. The only Permitted pesticides which can be used are:

• Insecticidal Soaps
• Horticultural oil/Dormant Oil
• Silicon Dioxide (Diatomaceous Earth)
• Pyrethrins
• Bacillus Thuringiensis
• Borax (Boric Acid)
• Ferric Phosphate (Iron Phosphate)
• Acetic Acid (Vinegar)
