Soils, Grass Seed, and Fertilizers
Every great lawn and garden starts with healthy, nutrient-rich soil. You need great soil for container gardening also! No matter what great varieties of plants you pick, or how you feed, water, and care for them-your time will be wasted if you don’t have good soil. And remember, even the greatest of soils can stand improvement from year to year.To improve the quality of the soil in your garden, you need to know its texture. Do you have sandy or clay soil? To get a general idea of your soil texture, you can perform the ribbon test. Take a handful of moist soil and roll it between your palms until it forms a ribbon. If it feels gritty and breaks apart immediately, the soil is predominately sand. If the soil feels smooth, and holds its shape for a short time before breaking apart, it’s mostly silt. However, if it feels sticky and holds together in a ribbon, then it’s clay. What you need is not sand or clay, but a nutrient rich, well draining soil. We can help you figure our what to add to your soil to achieve that perfect balance. At Jade Gardens we have everything from triple mix, to composted manure to peat moss to regular black earth. We even have special soils for container gardening, and cacti & succulents.
We also carry a great selection of Grass Seed, Fertilizers, and Organic Lawn & plant Fertilizers. These are the most popular and useful soils currently being featured.
